The video ad focuses on the ‘culturally curious’ Didier Drogba who travels the world in search of new culinary experiences around the world. However, it turns out that he is not yet as cultured as fellow footballer Lionel Messi who can been seen photographed in each of the restaurants he visits.
The main message of the ad is clear: food is the only real way of experiencing different cultures. In addition to their ‘Widen your World’ global advertising campaign, Turkish Airlines seeks to engage viewers further with their Epic Food Map. The aim is to to create the world’s most adventurous food map, which inspires people to travel to new destinations.
Ivory Coast striker Didier Drogba, who joins Lionel Messi as global brand ambassador said: “I am honoured to represent such a well respected and award-winning brand, and I have a special affiliation with Turkish Airlines having enjoyed my time playing for Galatasaray and living in Istanbul”.
Commenting on the announcement, Dr. Temel Kotil, CEO of Turkish Airlines said that he ‘couldn’t be more delighted’ and that Didier was chosen not just because of his status as a world renowned football player. “Not only is Didier an iconic UK football star, but also his philanthropic efforts through the Didier Drogba Foundation mean a lot to us. For these reasons and more, he was the obvious choice to be the next face of the Turkish Airlines brand”.
The film, the third and final in the series will be accompanied by a competition offering participants the chance to win a trip to some of the locations in the video ad.

Beijing has reacted angrily to US congressmen’s comments, citing them as further evidence of American involvement in China’s internal affairs.
